It has been a hectic week for UFC fighter Daniel Cormier. The light heavy weight champion’s long anticipated fight with Jon Jones was scrapped just 3 days before the event.

Luckily, UFC President Dana White announced Cormier will be stepping into the octagon at UFC 200 with middle weight champion, Anderson Silva.

White mentioned a few fighters gave him a call to fill in for Jones, but Silva ended up being the perfect fit.

Despite the perfect fit, Cormier and Silva will not be fighting for a title because of such short notice.

During Silva’s press conference he made it clear that he didn’t want anyone underestimating his ability.

“I think I’m in good shape and I don’t want Daniel or anyone else to think that I’m underestimating or coming in here to try and challenge a champion. I’m here to try and challenge myself and I think I haven’t trained in a few months, but I think I am in good condition to in there and put on a good fight,” said Silva.

UFC 200 will take place at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV Saturday July 9th.
